When and Why?
The Plant-A-Tree-Today (PATT) Foundation was formed in 2005 with its mission to react to problems caused by the massive and increasing levels of deforestation worldwide, raise awareness of environmental issues and the role forests play, take action against climate change, educate children on these issues and to PLANT MORE TREES.
We are a UK registered Charity with an operational office in Bangkok, Thailand. We currently work within Asia to raise awareness of global environmental issues, campaign for better environmental practices, take action against climate change, implement reforestation projects as well as provide funding for partner projects, set up school tree nurseries and provide environmental education, and fund community development projects in rural communities centred on tree planting and reforestation.
PATT is overseen by a Board of Trustees consisting of 3 individuals from different countries, backgrounds, and experiences. Namely, Professor George Walker (Ex Director General - International Baccalaureate), Mr Roger Hamilton (Chairman - XL Results Foundation) and Mrs Valerie Seekings (Ex Bank Manager - Bank of Malawi) All are leaders in their field with success in the corporate world as well as the non-profit environment, education, development, and social responsibility sectors.
How and What?
PATT is aimed at combating climate change and providing economic, social and environmental sustainability through community based forestry projects in developing countries. We intend to work in conjunction with corporate partners, government and intergovernmental agencies, non governmental organizations (NGOs), local authorities, and local communities to plant 1 million trees per year in locations worldwide.
The PATT Foundation aims to assist countries, organizations, communities and educational institutions in their efforts to achieve ecologically sustainable development which can involve:
•Raising public awareness of climate change and environmental issues facing the world today
•Integrating economic, environmental, and social goals in policies and activities
•Ensuring that environmental assets are properly valued and managed
•Providing intergenerational equity
•Providing communities with forests with which to derive forest products and a sustainable income
•Providing investigational, interactive learning experiences for schools
•Sourcing funding for current projects focused on reforestation
Offset Your Carbon Emissions!
PATT also provides an easy and convenient way to donate to offset your personal carbon emissions or that of your company or organisation. This enables individuals to make a difference on a personal level. Our projects have far reaching effects beyond simply planting trees to absorb carbon, however, as we work with experienced and reputable implementation organisations to restore degraded forest areas, provide economic sustainability to rural villages through tree planting and establish educational forest centres.
